A Sonnet for Selah Jane

The time between losses lengthening long,

The waiting of wishful watching to wane,

When then arose a soft and sweet new song,

In vivifying beauty, Selah Jane.

You came to us with the colors of Fall,

But as the colors, you could not remain,

You tried your best to stay, gave us your all,

And filled us with such joy, our Selah Jane.

Weeping for time together and apart,

You were so adored on this mortal plane,

And then took to Glory our very heart,

Where we will one day see our Selah Jane.

You gave us hope that loss can turn to gain,

You will forever be our Selah Jane.

In honor of Selah Jane, our most recent daughter lost in miscarriage, but still held in joy.
